When I got home Thursday, I was thrilled to find my new Spider IV 75 Watt Modeling Amplifier and Line 6 FBV Express MkII 4-button Foot Controller waiting for me.  It felt like being a kid on Christmas morning to see the big box sitting there.  The kids helped me unpack everything and in no time we were rocking out.  That first night I didn’t even bother with the instructions.  I just unpacked it, plugged it in and started tweaking knobs and pushing buttons.  Right out of the box, I was able to create sounds and tones that would take an army of effects pedals and hours of adjustments.  I was instantly in love with my new Line 6 amp.

Up till then I had only played with the amps at a guitar store and read up on their capabilities on the internet and in some guitar magazines.  This was the first time I was able to really sit down and explore all that they can do.  I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg and honestly, this amp can probably do a lot more than I’m capable of.

I hate tuning, but the on-board tuner is a snap to use.  It makes switching back and forth from drop D tuning to standard tuning incredibly fast and easy for me.  A nice feature is that you can control the tuner from the Line 6 FBV Express MkII 4-button Foot Controller or directly on the amp.

The Line 6 Spider IV 75 75-watt 1×12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier comes standard with over 250 presets to get lost in.  Everything from artists inspired settings to actual songs.  The songs are divided up by decade so you can go from that classic “Cinnamon Girl” sound of Neil Young to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica effortlessly.  I can’t wait to dig deeper and play through them all.

Once I’ve had time to get proficient with my new Line 6 Spider IV 75 75-watt 1×12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier and Line 6 FBV Express MkII 4-button Foot Controller, I’ll write up a more thorough review.

So far, I would highly recommend the Line 6 Spider IV series to anyone looking for a quality guitar amp.  The modeling capabilities also will save you a ton on effects pedals.
