Neil Young – Rockin’ in the Free World

Neil Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician and film director. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1995 and also as a member of Buffalo Springfield in 1997. Young’s work is characterized by deeply personal lyrics, distinctive guitar work, and signature tenor singing voice. Although he accompanies himself on several different instruments—including piano and harmonica, his clawhammer acoustic guitar style and often idiosyncratic electric guitar soloing are the linchpins of a sometimes ragged, sometimes polished sound. Although Young has experimented widely with differing music styles, including swing, jazz, rockabilly, blues, and electronic music throughout a varied career, his best known work usually falls into either of two distinct styles: acoustic folk/country (“Heart of Gold”, “Harvest Moon” and “Old Man”) and electric-charged hard rock (like “Cinnamon Girl”, “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)”). In recent years, Young has adopted elements from newer styles like industrial, alternative country and grunge. Young’s profound influence on the latter caused some to dub him “the Godfather of Grunge”. ________________________________________ There’s colors on the street Red, white and blue People shufflin’ their feet People sleepin’ in their shoes But there’s a warnin’ sign on the road ahead There’s a lot of people sayin’ we’d be better off dead Don’t feel like Satan, but I am

This is GOLD!!!

An exciting song that is still a topical one more than twenty years after its release!

Neil Young seems to be ALWAYS in his writing and playing prime.

“Kinder, gentler machine gun hand” is about right.

He’s GREAT when he uses his electric guitar. He should use it more often.

Keep on rockin’ in the free world !

@audioman628 I know eh, that “jetlag” makes me want to punch a swan

wtf do you care about people who dont like the song? maybe? the song reminded someone that they sleep in their shoes and hate their life or some shit…..Who gives a fuck

kick ass rock and roll. Great song and great artist.
Why is rock music so gay today??????

Neil young had guts. a Canadian writing and singing political songs and protest song about America.. haha

Brother Alex has been heavy in my Visions lately (dead now three years). Best represented by neil’s “Walking Man” in the MTV video…he would question ALL authority. These days would overwhelm him, but not without a fight.

Text und Sound sind einzigartig gut… Glasklar wie bei CCR

@Donizal ingles por favor

I love Neil. Musical genius, kind, gentle man. This song friggen rocks!

@MikeSkiera Sure, but what do you want me say, ______ ______ instead?

Constantly plastering youtube with inane comparisons saying how much this person or that person sucks and that THIS (insert whatever video of an band or artist you like) is REAL music, is one of the most aggravating Youtube phenomena in existence.

@ginnoveffect hmmm thats an ironic statement

at least one person is not rockin’ in the free world.

@erinviviane yeah. it’s a great movie!
