Led Zeppelin – Ten Years Gone

“Ten Years Gone” is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin from their 1975 album Physical Graffiti. Originally intended to be an instrumental piece, Jimmy Page used some 14 guitar tracks to overdub the harmony section. Robert Plant later added lyrics, which are dedicated to an old girlfriend who, ten years earlier, had made him choose either her or his music. Plant explained in an interview in 1975: Let me tell you a little story behind the song ‘”Ten Years Gone” on our new album. I was working my ass off before joining Zeppelin. A lady I really dearly loved said, “Right. It’s me or your fans.” Not that I had fans, but I said, “I can’t stop, I’ve got to keep going.” She’s quite content these days, I imagine. She’s got a washing machine that works by itself and a little sports- car. We wouldn’t have anything to say anymore. I could probably relate to her, but she couldn’t relate to me. I’d be smiling too much. Ten years gone, I’m afraid. Anyway, there’s a gamble for you.[2] Some have speculated that this song was a variation of the never-released Led Zeppelin track “Swan Song”, the name they chose for their own record label. This is one of the few Led Zeppelin songs in which it is possible to hear the squeak of John Bonham’s bass drum pedal in the recording studio, the others being “Since I’ve Been Loving You” from 1970′s Led Zeppelin III, “The Ocean” from 1973′s Houses of the Holy, “Houses of the Holy” from 1975′s Physical Graffiti, and “Bonzo’s Montreux” from 1982′s

@TATELANDDOG They definitely can be understated, compared to some other really balls out band. If that’s even a term, haha. I like the fact that they use the mandolin and? the acoustic guitar pretty often. But they can be wicked loud and rocking, too. Maybe someone already said this, but Communication Breakdown, Whole Lotta Love, etc.

@DiogoRJ I hear what you are saying it is too corporate but…zep were wild, and hedonistic, just like alot of acts today but making a record involves exspensive studios,so i guess thats where the money ppl control it,the answer is give? talented bands a free studio and let the record sales decide..although you will still need money to promote it,you cant escape economics..sad but true.

I started playing guitar because of them. Recently I wrote and recorded an original song. If you want to hear how Led Zeppelin-inspired? music sounds 2011 style click on wisztrock. I think you’ll like it.

Chickenfoot is liek the rock music equivalent of one of those movies that has a lot of special efx , explosions and car chases but no real plot .Its made for knuckleheads. ( no offense to chickenfoot or Vin Diesel) Zeppelins more progressive stuff requires a listener who pays attention .And if you? do you’ll be rewarded.

One? of their best songs from THE best Zeppelin album. These songs were written and recorded when they were in their mid 20′s. Think about it. Who could write something like this now? Mind blowing. Wish I could have seen them. Almost had tickets in 1980, but Bonzo died and then they disbanded. That’s okay. Still have all their music and enjoy them everyday.

One of my favorites from? Physical Graffiti.

@chingchangchongfly I agree,? Pops.

@TOSportsFan1990 It’s better that? way, Kid.

My favorite rock/pop song of? all time.

Ok… a tear drop? is falling…

best live band ? yes with me. ?

@justinness you can, just take some? acid :)

I honestly am speechless, how can some dislike this music, this isn’t to be funny either. How can someone dislike this?? They must have no soul, or emotion. I feel truly sorry for those people.

Now THAT is good? music.

Changes fill my time, but baby that’s all right with me
In the midst I think of you and how it used to be.
- That’s? prime rock and roll lyricism right there, amazing lines.

It’s sad how music like this has been brushed aside in favour of “girl look? at my body, i work out”. only a select few appreciate the good shit anymore

great song ‘minds me of girl i dated in high school and married 13 years? later classic

thats a lot of guitars to? handle :O

Those who? dislike this song have insignificant genitals…

@BigOlJim876 lol you cant shut down? this music by saying its ‘old’ unlike some other so called genres.

~? The neighbors called the cops on? me and said I was playing? this to loud ~ When the cops came over they told me to turn it up! ~

this song feeling so great to listen to, GOD i love it! LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!? AND LED ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
